How the d'Alembert Progression Works
The basic plan of d"Alembert progression is to increase your bet by one Unit on a loss and decrease it one Unit on a win. This progression is normally used on one of the 50/50 bets like Red/Black or Odd/Even.
Many people will use the d"Alembert system and start with the minimum table bet. Let's say the minimum bet is $10 with $5 dollar increments.
Example #1.
You lose 5 in a row and then win 5 in a row. Starting with a $10 bet and using $5 increments. You will end up needing a bankroll of $135 and you will win $25. Which is 50% of your increment times the number of bets you made.
Example #2
You start off winning five in a row and then lose five in a row. In this case you will end up Losing $60 on ten bets.
Learning from the Mistake of Example #2
So I will modify the starting bet to allow for winning multiple (5) bets early in the series of bets.
Every series of bets where you lose one win one you will be ahead by the value of the increment.
Real Simple d'Alembert Revisited Plan
A. Start with three times the table minimum and the increment will be half the table minimum. For example $10 minimum with $5 increment use a starting bet of $30.
B. Start with five times the minimum bet and the increment will be the table minimum. For example $10 minimum with $10 increment use a starting bet of $50.
Follow the d'Alembert plan and increase by one increment on losses and decrease by one increment on wins.
Recommended Bet sizes and Bankroll needed. In order to win at this regularly you must have a significant bankroll compared to your bet size and your increment size. Your last bet would be $80.
On a $10/$100 table start with $30 bet and $5 increment. To prepare for 11 losses in a row you need $605 bankroll. Your last bet would be $150.
On a $10/$200 table you can start with $50 bet and $10 increments. To prepare for 11 losses in a row you would need $1,100.
On a $25/200 table you can start with $85 bet and $15 increments or $125 with $25 increment.
On a $100/$1000 table you could start out with $225 with $25 increments or Start with $300 and $50 bets
Table Limits are very important. I would not use a $10 or $20 increment on a $5 minimum $100 maximum bet table. I would stick to $5 increments on a $5/$100 table. After a few losses on a 5/100 table and a $10 increment you will want to bet more than the Table Maximum Bet.
Getting Started on a $10 Minimum Bet Table
On a $10 minimum bet table if you start with a $50 bet and use $10 increments you could weather ten losses before exhausting your bankroll of $950. While ten losses in a row are rare it is not as rare to have 15 losses and only 5 wins which will put you in nearly the same loss.
However the Maximum Table Bet would need to be at least $150.
$50+60+70+80+90+100+110+120+130+140=950
$25 table $10 increment
$65+75+85+95+105+115+125+135+145+155=$1,100
With these examples we are starting with 5 wins in a row and then 5 losses in a row
Example #3
$10/$200 table You win 5 in a row then lose five in a row. Starting bet is $35 and the increment is $5. This time we ended up ahead by $25. and Bankroll needed is $35
Example #4
$10/$200 table. Starting with a $35 bet and a $5 increment. Results, up $25 and a bankroll needed of $285.
Example #5
$25/$500 Table Starting bet $85 $15 increment
Result up $75
Example #6
$25/$500 table Starting bet $125 and an increment of $25
Results up $125
Example #7
$25/$500 Table Starting Bet $125 $25 increment
Results up $125
Single Zero $100/$1,000 table in Las Vegas with a minimum bet of $100 and $25 increments. Starting Bet $225
Example #7 results $125 win. Bankroll needed of $1725.
Example #8 To play on a Single Zero $100/$1,000 table in Las Vegas with a minimum bet of $100 and $50 increments. Start with a $300 bet and lose five in a row then win five in a row.

Simple #2
This would be on a $10 minimum table. Start with $50 on 1/18. Increase bet $10 on loss and move to the right. Decrease bet #10 on win and stay on the same 50/50 bet. This will harvest the winning streaks sometimes After winning on the minimum start over.
This would be a $25 minimum table. Start with a $65 bet Increase by $10 on loss and decrease by $10 on a win. Bet on any of the 50/50 outside bets any way you want. Bet on the loser, bet on the winner, random bet. It doesn't matter. To weather 7 losses you would need a bankroll of $665.
This would be on a $25 minimum table. Start with $45 bet and increase by $5 on a loss and decrease by $5 on a win. With the ability to weather 7 losses and 5 wins you would need a $420 bankroll.

If you start off your betting cycle with a five losses and then get wins this will work well. (You will be up five increments in this case $25.)
However if you start by winning several bets and then losing several bets, you will have all your winning bets at the minimum bet of $10 and your losing bets will be increasing after each loss. This is the downfall of the d'Alambert system for most people.
